On most Saturday nights, driving through downtown Covina on Citrus around 7:15pm, you would see a line forming in front of The Fret House. It' s a discerning, and enlightened crowd because The Fret House presents a series of concerts selected as an intelligent alternative to the more readily available commercial entertainment.

All styles of music are presented. Country, Jazz, Classical, Bluegrass, Rock, Celtic, Blues, Flamenco, Pop, and Folk are all heard in an intimate atmosphere, for a crowd willing to think as well as be entertained. The audience can meet the artists after the show, and you can get desserts baked by the employees and their families with fresh brewed coffee before the show.

Bryan Bowers

For nearly three decades, Bryan Bowers has been to the autoharp what Earl Scruggs was to the five-string banjo. He presents instrumental virtuosity combined with warmth, eloquence, expression and professionalism. "Bowers is widely regarded as the leading virtuoso on the autoharp... Bowers also has distinct gifts as a singer and songwriter." - People Magazine
"...This man makes more music from an Autoharp than you can imagine from a 12-string guitar and a harpsichord combined. He has more stage presence and charisma than any stage performer in recent memory." - The Washington Times

John Batdorf & James Lee Stanley

Fans of Crosby Stills & Nash, Buffalo Springfield, Rubber Soul, the Eagles, or classic Beach Boys harmonies are in for a real treat. Can you imagine what the Rolling Stones songs would have sounded like if Mick Jagger and Keith Richards were California boys with acoustic guitars? Would Satisfaction, Ruby Tuesday, or Last Time have been as powerful if they had been played on acoustic guitars and filled with vocal harmonies? Curious?
So were James Lee Stanley and John Batdorf, purveyors of acoustic rock music for decades. They took 21 Rolling Stones classics and turned them into something totally unheard of. You don't have to live in California or play acoustic guitar to be enchanted by "All Wood and Stones" ... an amazing collection of Rolling Stones tunes played on acoustic guitars and brimming with joyous vocal harmonies.
