On
most Saturday nights, driving through downtown Covina on Citrus around
7:15pm, you would see a line forming in front of The Fret House. It'
s a discerning, and enlightened crowd because The Fret House presents
a series of concerts selected as an intelligent alternative to the more
readily available commercial entertainment.
All styles of music are presented. Country, Jazz, Classical, Bluegrass,
Rock, Celtic, Blues, Flamenco, Pop, and Folk are all heard in an intimate
atmosphere, for a crowd willing to think as well as be entertained.
The audience can meet the artists after the show, and you can get desserts
baked by the employees and their families with fresh brewed coffee before
the show.

and extensive career as a multi instrumentalist and solo, recording

Ronastadt, James Tayler, Leonard Cohen, John Fahey and Hoyt Axton, to
name but a few. His classic song, Whipping Boy, was covered by fellow
Claremonter, Ben Harper, on his first album.
Robb Strandlund, has written a couple of number one
records, Already Gone for the Eagles and I Can Tell By the Way you Dance
by Verne Gosdin and has had songs covered by artists, such as, Johnny
Lee, Gary Morris, The Osborne Brothers, Mickey Gilley and Tanya Tucker.
He has performed extensively over the years as a solo artist, with The
Flying Burrito Bros. and Pinkard and Bowden.
Patrick Brayer, whose two songs, So Long, So Wrong,
and The Boy Who Wouldn’t Hoe Corn, were covered by Alison Krauss
and Union Station, the first of which was voted song of the year by
the IBMA and Alan Jackson recorded his classic Good Imitation of the
Blues, which reached #1 status on the Country Music charts in 2007.
Eddie Cunningham is a veteran of the Los Angeles Singer Songwriters
scene and has written with Desmond Child, Wendy Waldman, Jeffrey Steele
and A. l. "Doodle" Owens and has had songs covered by Ben
E King and Moe Bandy.
The audience will get a chance to hear these fine singers and writers

Thom Bresh
Thom Bresh is rated as
one of the top guitarists in the world. A singer with a voice firmly
rooted in the deep south. A great live performer, who has recorded and
performed with Chet Atkins, Jerry Reed, Merle Haggard, Doc Watson, Tommy
Emmanuel, and of course Merle Travis, to mention but a few. This concert
comes highly recommended.

John
Batdorf & James Lee Stanley
Fans
of Crosby Stills & Nash, Buffalo Springfield, Rubber Soul, the Eagles,
or classic Beach Boys harmonies are in for a real treat. Can you imagine
what the Rolling Stones songs would have sounded like if Mick Jagger
and Keith Richards were California boys with acoustic guitars? Would
Satisfaction, Ruby Tuesday, or Last Time have been as powerful if they
had been played on acoustic guitars and filled with vocal harmonies?
Curious?
So were James Lee Stanley and John Batdorf, purveyors of acoustic rock
music for decades. They took 21 Rolling Stones classics and turned them
into something totally unheard of. You don't have to live in California
or play acoustic guitar to be enchanted by "All Wood and Stones"
... an amazing collection of Rolling Stones tunes played on acoustic
guitars and brimming with joyous vocal harmonies.

Doug
Macleod
Doug
MacLeod is one of the last remaining bluesmen who learned from the old
masters, lived the music, survived the life and carries forward that
valuable tradition. Within the blues world, MacLeod is known for his
superb songwriting, guitar wizardry, warm soulful vocals, wit and unforgettable
live performances. At the heart of this is his knack for storytelling,
bringing characters-from the faceless to the legendary-to strikingly
real life.
