LESSONS LESSONS

Lessons are offered on the premises.

All lessons are 30 minute private
lessons unless otherwise arranged.

Rates: Teachers set their own rates, currently $20, to $25
per half hour, generally paid monthly, in advance.

Teachers set their own policies regarding
missed lessons - discuss with teacher.

Instruction is offered in all styles of guitar, bass, drums, banjo,
mandolin, lap and pedal steel, piano, reeds, brass, and strings.

Scheduling may be facilitated at the store.

Brian Barany:
Guitar, Classical Guitar, Improv Comedy

Brian Barany has a Masters Degree in Guitar performance from Azusa Pacific University where he now teaches classical guitar and he is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in performance at USC. He was chosen as Scholar Laureate Delegate on Music to Eastern Europe in 2006 and has given performances in masterclasses with William Kanengiser, Martha Masters, Scott Tennent and Charles Stegeman and won several awards including the first place award in the 2008 California ASTA Solo Guitar Competition.

Cassandra Barany:
Guitar, Classical Guitar

Cassandra Barany has a Masters of Music in Classical Guitar Performance and is Director of Guitar Studies at Azusa Conservatory of Music. She’s performed throughout So Cal and was a finalist in the Ladies Musical Club Awards Tour Competition in Seattle in 2008 and a Semi-Finalist in the Juan Serano International Competition in Fresno in 2006.

George Boravich:
Electric Bass

George Boravich has been teaching electric bass at The Fret House for over twenty years. His curriculum focuses on music theory, reading, and styles applied to electric bass. With an extensive background playing rock, jazz, country, bluegrass, Latin, and blues, George is qualified to offer a very comprehensive approach to bass instruction.
With over twenty-five years experience as a freelance bassist in the Los Angeles area George has played everything from musical theater to rock concerts. He also has considerable showroom experience in Atlantic City, Lake Tahoe, Reno, and Las Vegas.
Whether you are an intermediate bassist or just starting out, George's personable approach to instruction will make the learning process a positive and enjoyable experience.

Tom Seymour:

Tom Seymour is the founder and owner of The Fret House. He began teaching guitar in 1963 during the folk era. He has primarily taught private lessons and group classes in adult education and he maintains a small teaching load to this day. He prefers to teach students from the beginning of their studies. He is retired from teaching elementary school (primary grades).
