A light, non-glossy, satin finish over the body lets the guitar ring better. The mahogany top, in conjunction with the mahogany back and sides, actually records far better than all other acoustic guitar wood combinations. Mahogany naturally has a mid-range tone boost with not a lot of top end and not a lot of bottom end that studio microphones pick up oh so well. Sounds great solo, sounds great with a band, sounds great with a pickup, and sounds great mic'd up. I challenge all to find a more well-rounded Martin guitar than this.
